are there any online 3d shooting multiplayer games for free and have no viruses?

Athlete 4e

nothing like gun bound or gunz online

Answer
Gun Bound and Gunz Online don't have viruses. :P

You might want to try Exteel at http://www.playNC.com

It's a mech fighting/gun game.

You also might want to do a virus scan, or get a free scanner.

You can find one if you search for Avira AntiVir Personal Eddition at http://www.download.com

Could you see this machine within the next 75 years?

Qelery

A "Home Diagnosis Machine" that looks like a mini MRI machine in your home that you will use daily. First the machine takes a drop of your blood and saliva as a sample. Then you lay on the machine as it brings into the tube, just like an MRI machine. It scans you body for about 5 minutes, taking 3D images of your body and examining the blood. It would be able to tell you everything from your blood pressure, to cancerous tumors, to what vitamins you lack. Your results will be dispalyed on a touch screen. Everything that needs your attention will be shown to you. It will diagnose you and display what medication, vitamins, or medical attention you need. You select the medication you need to buy and the machine will send it to your local pharmacy.

Answer
Sure, why not? Except that it will probably not look like a MRI machine at all and won't need 75 years to come to market. Like almost any product, this hypothetical device would have to be user friendly as well as have user appeal. That means no big, bulky machines in the house/apartment. I would envision it as more of a solid state scanner that could be placed on the wall, ceiling, shower, door frame or even in your bed frame (basically anything you walk past). Depending on how many points of origin the scanner(s) has (or perhaps it uses some kind of depth sensitive radiation) it can then scan you in three dimensions while you are stationary. There are already consumer available 3D scanners that place objects on turntables and produce a 3D image. So there's the technological component.
I can also see such a device coming to homes due to society's increasing paranoia and obsession with personal health and hygiene (I think this borders on mass psychosis). Basically anything that promises to be of some benefit to personal health will be easily accepted by consumers even if there are other potential drawbacks.
Factors against the invention of such a device would likely have to be economic or political in nature since social acceptance and technology are already in place. Also, a newer and better method might also be discovered in that time.

Why dont airports use dogs instead of those 3d body scanners?

BillsGold

Dogs could detect everything those scanners do and more. Why not make them standard at every airport gate? My own theory is that you cant make a lot of money from dogs so there's no lobbyists advocating for dogs. You can make money off of those scanners ($150,000 a machine?). Is our security being subverted by washington lobbyists?

Answer
If each team had several dogs all trained in detecting different substances, the handlers could simply walk the dogs along the line of waiting passengers and remove anyone the dogs "hit" on. Forget technology, let nature expose them. I agree. Dogs not scanners.

What can I use to cast a mold from stone without hurting the stone?

disciple

I'm new to this, but does anyone know what medium I would use to make a mold from a stone. In other words, There is an old building with a beautiful design sculpted in to it. I want to copy this design. I know there is a material out there that I can press against the original design and make a mold of it and then cast the design in plaster. I just don't know what material I would use to do this without hurting the stone.... Help!!!

Answer
I think the sculpey or any clay will work. If you use normal clay, any residue left will dissolve in the next rain, just don't use brown clay on light stone... if you use water based clay you would have to cast your plaster into the mold while the clay is still wet.
As the clay won't be very stable just on its own, you should consider making a mother mold on top of that. That is a hard shell, which just gives support to the soft part of your mold so it doesn't deform. It depends on the size of what you want to copy if you need it. You could make the mothermold from plaster bandages, but don't put plaster directly on the stone.
Before you start, consider carefully the shape of what you want to copy and where undercuts are and where you have to put in parting lines. What technique you use for mold making really depends on the exact shape of what you want to copy. If the structure is something complicated, you may want to practice how to make molds from more simple structures first so you are aware what causes problems and get some experience in how to solve them.

Another completely contact free method is if you happen to be at a university where they have a 3D laser scanning camera you can borrow, you could use the 3D laser scanner then make a model of your structure in the computer from the scans. That you could print out using a 3D printer. that way you can scale the model to any size (though anything large will be expensive to print)

Help with building RGB LASER Scanner?

Matt

Hi there previously I have build some laser spyro projects but I have absolutely no idea about RGB LASER Scanners can someone please help.I have tried to find every possible information on the internet but I guess I need to start from the basics.
Thanks : )

Answer
there are several ways to do this, each involving different amounts of electro-optics in digital and analog forms.

you'll have to decide what you're scanning. is it 2D? 3D? still? or live-action?

in the easiest of cases, you can probably find an old photocopy machine and see how that works.

in the hardest case, your scanning data might become real-time input to a vehicle that must navigate through its environment.

so you will have a scanning beam, and a detector.

the scanning beam is a laser; you're interested in tri-colour, so this is either three lasers of different wavelengths, or it is a white-light laser that you will later filter. true white-light lasers are pulsed. if the pulse rate is really high (eg: in the millions of pulses/second), then each pulse could represent a pixel, and still have a mean free path of several meters.

the detector is a CCD photoreceptor, (or a whole lot of them), filtered to pass the desired wavelength(s). you can choose to capture:
a) a stream of individual bounces without regard to the focus;
b) a whole scan line into a buffer at once; or
c) a whole 2D frame into a buffer at once.
each method implies different mechano-optics, with a) being the simplest, mechanically. additionally, it may be possible to convert some digital cameras to use for this purpose.

to scan, you'll draw a point of light across a remote object, detecting the intensity of what bounces back. if this is not a range-finding device, then the outbound signal may be constant-intensity; but to detect distance, velocity, or absorption spectra, you will have to do some optical and/or high-speed tricks (sub-nanosecond processing is hard) involving correlating the outbound signal to the returned signal, to build a profile.

photon time-of-flight would indicate distance, (1 ns is about 30cm), and doppler shift would indicate speed.

to detect time of flight implies very high sensitivity and probably high frame rate, too.

to detect doppler shift and spectral lines would require that the returned beam travel through a prism, to give angular separation to the photon stream by wavelength. in this case, you'll always be scanning into a buffer, whose width covers the returned wavelengths.

each scan line would be drawn using a mirror that can tilt and swivel on two orthogonal axes. (or a pair of mirrors, arranged to swivel on orthogonal axes). controlling the mirror(s) will be subtle and delicate, because vibration may cause some fuzz in where the point gets drawn.
(think of a mechanism very similar to a DVD reader, for instance.)

for noise control, you'll want to distinguish between ambient light and returned signal.

what do you think about my new camcorder idea?

Q. it's for a 3D SHD (Super High Definiton) camcorder.

just got an idea for a new type of camcorder. ths one uses a red, green, and blue laser (horizontally) and captures the 3 colors then adds them together to make a color image. The image colors are defines by reflected light. It's in 3D because it's calculating the time it takes for different parts of the picture to come back to it, and very slight differences define the bumps, objects, and textures.

What do you think? would it work? it's meant to stay in one place and the horizontal laser moves up and down a set feild of view very quickly. it's not meant to replace camcorders. lol

Answer
the basic concept is feasible. the very first video cameras used this method, they were called flying spot scanners. processing 2 megapixels 30 times per second for phase delay would be a tough task for a Cray computer. But holograms, or 3D still images, are created by lasers that generate an interference pattern directly, not computed. And holographic projection would be a prefered display technology.

Can samurai swords be made from 3-d printing?

420er

Just read a couple of articles about 3-d printing, thanks to that guy who printed out a plastic gun...just trying to imagine how 3-d printing can change our lives, and was imagining how it could be used, and in the course of such thinking, this question occurred. Is it possible to print out a strong, capable samurai sword with 3-d printing? If so, then I imagine 3-d printing can be used to make just about anything from any raw source material...which would change our lives in ways we can't even imagine today...we'll be living like gods where we can make anything at whim...

(I'm gonna repost this in other categories cuz I don't know a good match for this question.)
hey dragon, what show was that? I was imagining buying one regular 3-d printer that's on the market today and making bigger parts to make a bigger 3-d printer and keep making them bigger and bigger until I could build my own glider or car, etc., but a house?!? Wow! I wanna see that!

I don't know the name of the career I want to pursue or if it exists?

Hannah Wil

I'm 17 years old and am going down the route of design. My main interest is design in the film industry. The job that I would love to do is to design animated characters, settings etc. but I've been told that to do this, I should study animation. Animation is NOT what I want to do, I don't want to animate, I want to purely design with a team of people. Is this a specific job in the film industry (designing characters) or do I have to study animation and other things as well? It may sound naive but I really need to know if the job alone exists and if it does, the title, in order to pursue it further. Please help me! If you know, a thorough answer or link to a description of the job would be great.
Thank you.

it sounds like you want to create or design, the characters or props for animated scenarios, not sure if you meant actual design as in muppets or animatronics, or mechanical engineering of robots,

Should I upgrade my iphone 3gs to a 5s?

binfordaep

I currently have an iphone 3gs as my personal cell phone. I have had this model of phone since the day it came out in 2009. This is my third one as the other two have broken and been replaced through apple care. I've had this one since January 2012. I keep getting new phones through work - an iphone 4s in January 2012 and a Galaxy S3 in January 2013, which is the reason I haven't bothered to upgrade my personal phone.

Overall, I'm relatively happy with the phone, although I have noticed it has gotten much slower since I installed ios6 on it. My only real gripe with it is that it has no light on it and the camera sucks (however, I have my S3 in the rare instance I need a camera or a light).

So basically, I'm looking for someone to make a convincing argument as to why I should/shouldn't get a new phone given the circumstances. That is, I currently have a device that does exactly what I need it to: it calls, texts, emails, goes on the internet and runs simple apps (e.g. maps, banking, yelp - I don't really use any processor intensive apps like 3D games). I basically never watch videos on it and use it for music about twice a month. As far as I can tell, the 5s isn't any better at calling, texting, or emailing than the 3gs. Basically, I feel like I am paying for it to be slightly faster and have a better display and camera which is similar to the one on my S3.

Please justify why this is/isn't worth $200 given that I also have an S3 that I can use for pretty much anything I want except browsing work restricted websites (porn).

I am not concerned with contract terms, etc. so this comes down to whether or not it is worth upgrading this phone for $200 or waiting until it dies so I got every last dollar of utility out of it.

Answer
Yes you should, A TON of reasons why

1) iOS 7, the 3GS is too old to run iOS 7 which is a beautiful new operating system

2) Its not slightly faster its WAY faster, with the new A7 chip you'll notice a BIG difference between the 3GS and the 5S

3) Siri, the personal voice assistant, can help you set reminders make phone calls, and even Tweet and post to Facebook

4) Touch ID, the biggest feature of the iPhone 5s this fingerprint scanner offers a high level of security, all you need to do is place your finger on the home button and it unlocks.

The 5c is a good substitute it has the same specs as an iPhone 5 and is about $100 cheaper than the 5s

Help!!!!! Malewarebytes says I have 150 infected files and their registry keys!?

Chantz

I kept getting a red pop up from avast saying the it blocked a Malicious URl, i get it everytime I open Google Chrome, open a new tab, or navigate to a new part of a website, it started happenening about an hour ago, so far I've system restored my computer, run an avast scan, nothing.

So I tried Malewarebytes and it found 150 infected files, half files i don't have like firefox, and the other half registry keys. I have had trojan viruses in the past that i've fixed by a system restore. I have windows 7, and i don't want to screw up my computer by deleting registry files so help please.
Here is the popup I keep getting from avast, and it is the same one every time, it's never different
Please tell me what to do, to delete, to completely restore my computer, or what.

Answer
It has been my experience, of which there is a lot, that it is safe to delete everything MBAM finds. MBAM has a very low false positive rate. You can quarantine the items, and if you have problems after quarantining, then look into which key may be the good one, and restore it. In all my experience with MBAM, I have deleted everything it has found, and never had a problem.
I get rid of malware on a lot of people's machines.

I would also run scans with TDSSKiller, and GMER. They are anti-rootkit programs that you don't have to install, just download them to the desktop, and double click the icon(s) to open the scanners. Rootkits can go undetected by AV programs, and programs like MBAM.

about how much energy does a regular desktop pc use when on(without a printer or scanner or mic or cam)?

liltammy19

the monitor says compaq 7500, computer says presario 6000

Answer
check your power supply. large beefy gaming/3d rendering compuers can use anywhere from 450-500watts on up even beyond 1000watts (only seen one of them though). a simpler home computer usually takes up 250-300 watts or higher, but usually not more than 400. overall the best way to find out is to read the sticker on the side of the power supply (if you open your computer up it the grey box in the top left with all the wires coming out of it).
Hope this helps!
