Jessie Mon

I am currently a freshman at a state university. I am planning to earn B.S in Radiology science and become a radiology technician (not a radiologist), but I have no clue where to start. What do I have to do? how many years will it take ? (only 4-5 or more ? ) Please help me out. Thank you.
I wants to earn a BS in radiology and Masters in Health Administration

Answer
Radiologist technicians are health care professionals who specialize in using medical imaging to diagnose patients, evaluate injuries, and recommend treatment options. In order to become a radiologist technician, you will need to have earned a degree from an accredited college or university with a health care concentration. Additional on the job training is also required. When researching radiologist technician schools, look for programs that specialize in radiology and offer hands-on practice with cutting edge medical technology. Widely used technologies that students will need to become experienced with include X-rays, CT scanners, MRIs, 3D medical imaging programs, special cameras used in health care and surgery, sonogram machines, and plenty of other computer and web-based software programs.

Other important factors to consider when researching radiologist technician schools include the amount of funding and time spent on radiology research at the school and the size of the radiology department and team at the medical school hospital or clinic. If your medical school is a leader in radiology research and the expansion of medical imaging technology, then the quality of the academic and training programs will be high due to substantial funding and the on-campus presence of leaders in radiology. Medical centers that are known for excellence in radiology will also mean that your school program will benefit from the influence and teachings of experienced, cutting edge radiologists.

Computed tomography (CT), originally known as computed axial tomography (CAT or CT scan) and body section roentgenography, is a medical imaging method employing tomography where digital geometry processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the internals of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation. The word "tomography" is derived from the Greek tomos (slice) and graphein (to write). CT produces a volume of data which can be manipulated, through a process known as windowing, in order to demonstrate various structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam. Although historically (see below) the images generated were in the axial or transverse plane (orthogonal to the long axis of the body), modern scanners allow this volume of data to be reformatted in various planes or even as volumetric (3D) representations of structures.

MRI is short for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. (If your doctor has sent you for an MRA [Magnetic Resonance Angiography], this is also a kind of MRI.) MRI is an advanced technology that lets your doctor see internal organs, blood vessels, muscles, joints, tumors, areas of infection, and more -- without x-rays, surgery, or pain. MRI is very safe; in fact, it makes use of natural forces and has no known harmful effects. It's important to know that MRI will not expose you to any radiation.

What would be a good laptop?

3d scanner tablet
on HP Compaq 2710p tablet PC gets FCC approval
3d scanner tablet image

Justin H

I am getting ready to purchase a new laptop. I want one with a decent size screen and a fingerprint scanner. It will be used for everyday computing and school work.

Answer
If you're a little into gaming like myself, you're @ the store and looking at the display laptops, the 1st thing you should look for on computer surface itself is a logo sticker for NVidia or ATI Mobility Radeon just below the keyboard. This shows that the laptop has a DEDICATED GRAPHICS CARD. Diablo III, the game I would love most to play is said to run on 3D graphics & is rumored to need at least 1GB of graphics memory (a lower graphics memory = cheaper laptop price), so always check the system requirement specs of the game's packaging (ex. SIMS 3; see if your laptop meets all these requirements).
Next important aspect is the RAM (memory). If you're in designing & you need to ran applications like AutoCAD 2007 or softwares used for editing photos and videos, you have to make sure that the laptop has at least 2GB DDR2 memory modules in it (the more, the better; DDR3 the fastest and newest type of memory modules that came out last October).
But what makes a computer really run fast? It is it's processor! So if you really want your processor to have computing prowess & for you to be able to run different applications simultaneously, make sure it's as efficient as an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (Centrino 2 is a Core 2 Duo that features power saving capabilities; Quad Core is for gaming fanatics). A Core 2 Duo, is like having 2 motors running your machine each independent of the other which means for a Quad Core, it's like 4 motors are running the machine (that means it will run faster & more efficient even if its frequency is lower to that of a Core 2 Duo). Intel: Core 2 Duo, Centrino 2, Quad Core & Core i-7 (Core i-5 for desktops only as of now) are all very much faster and better than an Intel: Atom, Celeron & Pentium (and their more affordable AMD counterparts). Just make sure that you have at least 2GHz of speed on your processor. For my computer, I chose an Intel® Core⢠i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB; newest type just came out this Nov) w/c is just the right stuff for the applications I use & games I play.
The average laptop LCD screen size is 15.4". If you want something smaller than that with these 3 features I just shed some light on, expect the price to go higher (ex. for 13.3" & 14.1" LCD screens).
The HDD (Hard Disc Drive) should have at least 320GB {Although I would have loved my computer more if it came with two HDD bays... 1st one for a 128GB SSD (Solid State Drive) and a back-up 500GB (72000rpm) 2nd HDD}.
If you've thought of a small, portable and affordable laptop, the new Sony CW13FX/B Jet Black glossy notebook went on sale @ Fry's about 3 weeks ago (for only $699.99). I checked out the price they had in other stores, and Fry's was cheaper by about $200 {go to Fry's Electronics (www.Fry's.com) then type in this # 6029078 (or 6029138 for white & 6029108 for pink) in the search box under Notebooks/Tablets before you click on GO}. Now, after the sale, the price went up by $100, so we are waiting for it to go on sale again after Thanksgiving. Let's say you are on 9th grade.. when buying a computer, you have to consider if you will still be able to use the one you bought for college? For this particular Sony model, I would assure you, you can still use it for college as long as you take good care of it & not break it (for the technology installed on this computer will not be outdated & still be good in 10 years to come, but this is just an example). There are a lot of good brand of computers out there Toshiba, Dell, HP and ACER (w/c owns Asus & Gateway; has affordable computers with the newest technology installed), you just need to look for the ones on sale (try display computers on Clearance Sale inside stores like Micro Center, Best Buy and Office Depot). Try http://www.newegg.com/ look for HP Pavilion dv6-1362nr.
Microsoft Office is an office productivity software (so you would need to buy the retail version after the 60-day Free Trial Version that comes with all brand new computers expires, to be able to use the Word, Excel and Power Point applications). Retail version is about $159, but you can get a discounted price of $99 with a configured Dell laptop (www.dell.com).
MacBooks, that is on a totally different aspect for Apple has their own OS (Operating System) unlike the common Windows OS (XP, Vista and the newest Windows 7) that most computers come with.
Some places to start looking for the best prices, my advice, go to Fry's, CostCo, MicroCenter and BestBuy's web sites for updates & comparison. There are a lot of options and different combinations you can try in customizing your own laptop, just stick to the bare essentials first (www.HP.com). The 15.6" HP laptop I customized and had configured with the Intel® Core⢠i-7 came to a total amount of $1,455.80 ($136 tax + other sur-charges already included). I chose to pay more to have the newest technology installed, so that I don't have to worry about it getting outdated within the next 15 yrs.

Information on television history?

LUCY

I'm doing a school project on the history of the television and i was wondering if anyone could give me any info like when it was first invented, when colour,3d and hd came in, how many channels it had at first, what they were made out of, when remote controls were invented and stuff like that? it's monday and my project is due wednesday so please help. thanks

Answer
I have to warn you, this is a very small paste from a huge article in Wikipedia.

I went to Google and wrote : advent of television invention and found many article and just selected a small section from Wikipedia.

paste:
The beginnings of mechanical television can be traced back to the discovery of the photoconductivity of the element selenium by Willoughby Smith in 1873, the invention of a scanning disk by Paul Gottlieb Nipkow in 1884 and John Logie Baird's demonstration of televised moving images in 1926.

As a 23-year-old German university student, Paul Nipkow proposed and patented the first electromechanical television system in 1884. Although he never built a working model of the system, variations of Nipkow's spinning-disk "image rasterizer" for television became exceedingly common, and remained in use until 1939. Constantin Perskyi had coined the word television in a paper read to the International Electricity Congress at the International World Fair in Paris on August 25, 1900. Perskyi's paper reviewed the existing electromechanical technologies, mentioning the work of Nipkow and others.

However, it was not until 1907 that developments in amplification tube technology, by Lee DeForest and Arthur Korn among others, made the design practical. The first demonstration of the instantaneous transmission of still silhouette images was by Georges Rignoux and A. Fournier in Paris in 1909, using a rotating mirror-drum as the scanner and a matrix of 64 selenium cells as the receiver.

In 1911, Boris Rosing and his student Vladimir Zworykin created a television system that used a mechanical mirror-drum scanner to transmit, in Zworykin's words, "very crude images" over wires to the "Braun tube" (cathode ray tube or "CRT") in the receiver. Moving images were not possible because, in the scanner, "the sensitivity was not enough and the selenium cell was very laggy".
On March 25, 1925, Scottish inventor John Logie Baird gave the first public demonstration of televised silhouette images in motion, at Selfridge's Department Store in London. AT&T's Bell Telephone Laboratories transmitted halftone still images of transparencies in May 1925. On June 13 of that year, Charles Francis Jenkins transmitted the silhouette image of a toy windmill in motion, over a distance of five miles from a naval radio station in Maryland to his laboratory in Washington, using a lensed disk scanner with a 48-line resolution.

However, if television is defined as the live transmission of moving images with continuous tonal variation, Baird first achieved this privately on October 2, 1925. But strictly speaking, Baird had not yet achieved moving images on October 2. His scanner worked at only five images per second, below the threshold required to give the illusion of motion, usually defined as at least 12 images per second. By January, he had improved the scan rate to 12.5 images per second.

Then on January 26, 1926 at his laboratory in London, Baird gave what is widely recognized as being the world's first demonstration of a working television system to members of the Royal Institution and a newspaper reporter.

Is it possible to locate cholesterol clogs in specific arteries?

3d scanner youtube
on Robot 3D Scanning and Mapping - YouTube
3d scanner youtube image

james

Hypothetically: You go into some kind of scanner and a 3D model mapping all of your arteries shows up on the computer. The scan also picks up on any stagnant cholesterol. So a doctor can visually see if there are any severely clogged arteries.

^ That was a very arbitrary example. But you get my point...

Is there a test out there that can detect atherosclerosis in a specific location in the body? Maybe even measure the amount of cholesterol / the severity of blood flow restriction in that specific artery?

If it does exist, do we have some kind of procedure that can definitively correct the problem using this information?

Hereâs another hypothetical example: You have a severe blockage in your common carotid artery and stroke is almost immanent. Since we know exactly where the problem is, surgeons rip the artery open and take out the fatty substance.

*If there is no way to locate the specific sites of clogs, wouldnât ^^^ be a plausible cure for stroke and heart attacks if we DID have the technology? Itâs crude, but they already do surgery on major arteries like they aorta. They already know how to stop hearts and shit. Iâm pretty sure they could do this.*

Answer
Yes. The first video is how to find arterial blockage, the second video is how to correct arterial blockage and the third link is how to help avoid both these procedures. :)

Answer
here some x-rays you can use to show how food enters and exits the body from swallowing to pooing, the images are taken by getting the patient to swallow a powdered based drink called barium. barium is a dense material which allows doctors to investigate whether your insides are working properly.

swallowing (food entering mouth, going down oesophagus into stomach):

http://www.radiographicceu.com/article23.html

here is a youtube video of a barium swallow in real time, this person has somesort of oesophagile reflux - this were food travels back up toward the mouth instead of going into stomach.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCQ_MrhhGvI

this is the stomach, the arrow points to were the oesophagus meets the stomach:

http://www.szote.u-szeged.hu/radio/nyelocs/anyel6b.htm

This one is called a small bowel enema, a tube (which you can see on the x-ray) is inserted down the oesophagus into the small bowel. this is were food goes after the stomach.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/36/123159727_900bab501a_o.jpg

This one is called a barium enema, this image is of the large bowel, this is were food goes after the small bowel... after this, its time for your food to meet the toliet

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF_1sUYHL5M - the colon (large bowel)

heres another one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BVY5qfZKwk&feature=related - again 3d colon taken using a CT scanner, a ct scanner is a hi-tech x-ray mechine which rotates around the body also called cat scan.

if you talk about the structures of each segment/body piece, you might be able to distinguish them on the x-rays

bored now so hope this is ok etc...

COMPUTER HELP: URGENT HARD DRIVE SPACE?

3d scanning vfx

3d scanning vfx image

Mephisto

My hard drive is roughly 458 gb.

Recently, it hovered in the 407gb zone as I uninstalled and removed programs, this was what it was at for most of the time I owned the computer. 407 gb was acceptable.

I recently began a vfx project and installed Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and some other post-production softwares.

Ever since then, my hard drive space has dropped to 340 gb. What could be causing the 60 percent drop?

Whenever I boot one of the programs, have a session, and then close it, my hard drive drops my 1 or 2 gigabytes.

I scanned with McAffee, no virus exists.

* I remember reading somewhere that when a computer exceeds its RAM, it takes additional memory from the hard drive. My Acer Aspire has 4 gigs of ram, could it be that intense 3d rendering exceeded this quota and began to take stuff out of the HDD space?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
you should clean the free space on your hard disk with CCleaner, because when you delete data its never really gone it just gives a command to the hard disk that it gives the right to overwrite old data when you add new data!

What is a good camera for a beginning photographer?

mr.wanksal

I am a college student and am going to be moving to Australia for a while, and I am looking for a camera before I go. I have taken a few short photography lessons, so I know basically what I am doing. I am looking to spend between $100-$250

Answer
I started photography in 1964, have done my share of weddings and portraits, graduations, etc., including court evidence for landlord/tenant courts. Professional? I've lived off of photography, am semi-retired today.

When you buy a camera, consider that you're buying in to a lens system. Your camera's lens mount determines what lenses you can use, and that camera brand's lenses will be dependent on whether or not the camera brand changes its lens mount. Nikon has not changed its lens mount since 1959 and it is well known in the industry for great lenses with very good glass formulas. You won't have problems finding lenses in the future.

Best FILM camera for amateur, photography classes: Nikon N80 with the Nikkor 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6D lens (also a macro lens) or the Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-5.6D(macro) lens. This camera has many features that you will not outgrow anytime soon; it has spot meter, average/center-weighted metering and 3D matrix metering, can be used totally manually (you set the aperture, shutter speed) with auto-focus or without auto-focus, or aperture priority (you set the desired aperture, the camera sets the correct, corresponding shutter speed) or shutter priority (you set the desired shutter speed, the camera will set the correct, corresponding aperture) or totally automatic where the camera will set the aperture and shutter speed with auto-focus or if you wish, without the auto-focus. The camera is the best bang-for-your-dollar on this level, and it also has a built-in flash good up to about 5 feet. It is a sturdy, ergonomically built camera, will advance your film automatically and rewind the film as you take the last shot, and it sets the ISO automatically for you (although you can also override to "push" or "pull" film), it has on-command grid lines to help you maintain a level horizon when you do landscapes, seascapes and architectural photos. It is the poor man's "pro" camera. Get the instructions manual; there are many more features that I do not have the time or space to include here.

I still have two of these cameras even though I have my two trusty pro-level Nikon F5 cameras.

The lens is the most versatile lens around; you can use it as a wide angle lens (28-35mm), regular lens (45-55mm), as a portrait lens (80-90mm), as a short telephoto lens (90-105mm) and as a macro-lens (it converts to a macro lens by switching a small switch). The Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-5.6D (macro) lens is the older but equally good lens that is a few dollars cheaper. You might even want to include a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D for low light situations; this little lens is easy to carry and will help you out in low light situations where you might otherwise have great difficulties or you might not get at all.

Once you have the film processed, you can either scan the images at home (if you have a scanner at home) or you can have a CD made by the lab that processes your film. You'll the have the film for future use, and not have to worry about archival issues, still not unsettled in the digital technology.

Point and shoot camera: check into the Canon S3-iS. It does not have interchangeable lens but it has many good features considering its price range.

Best digital SLR for amateur or photography classes: Nikon D50 with the kit lens, which I would recommend over the Canon S3-iS since there's not much difference in prices and there is so much more camera in the Nikon D50; or, the Nikon D70S with the kit lens; this camera is still going strong and people are still raving over its many good qualities. With these Nikon cameras, you'll have a camera that will retain a higher resale price than any other when you decide to upgrade to another camera, and the lenses will surely fit any other Nikon digital camera!

Check with www.keh.com and see what they have; if you don't see what you want, go back in 2 or 3 days and be ready to buy at once since their merchandise doesn't stay very long on their shelves.

If you truly wish to stay in photography, whether to make this your profession or for the sake of having a lifelong hobby (that is also very therapeutic), get a camera that you can grow with, and develop skills and let your natural talents grow. But the best you can afford if you're sure that you're going to be in photography a long time, but buy wisely and save money in the process! For now, buy good but used cameras in good shape and buy only from reputable places where you'll have a certain degree of security.

You must have realistic expectations in buying your camera and lens; $250 is NOT realistic. Your best bet is to get a good but used N80 at about $170 and get the Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-5.6D(macro) lens for about $140 or so, or maybe about $530 for a Nikon D50 with the kit lens. Do NOT even think that you'll be saving any kind of real money by getting a generic lens; you will get what you pay for! Don't fall into this trap as so many others have; get into good habits from the start. If you choose to go with a Canon camera, get Canon lenses, and if you go with Nikon, get Nikkor lenses... don't put cheap tires on your Rolls-Royce! Cheap lenses are cheap lenses; stay away from generics!

Good luck and best wishes.

Looking for a job I could get for experience in robots or physics in general.?

Yahoo!

I am looking for a job that will help me get experience. I am a junior in high school currently, taking the advanced physics class and advanced math class. Anyone know of possibilities that I could get?"

Answer
Unless you're willing to relocate, it would help to know your location to help you find a job near you.

Otherwise you might consider starting your own business. Doing so will show that you are a self starter and more motivated and creative than someone who seeks someone else to employ them. I would suggest since you are interested in robotics that you put together a 3D printer from a kit and then you can print parts to make more 3D printers which you could sell for profit.
You could recruit some of your peers to form a business venture similar to how Apple started, paying them in shares of the company rather than in cash.

You could also put together a mini CNC mill from parts from old printers and scanners.
You could use it to make intricate carvings in plaster of paris blanks, then have someone make ceramic greenware from the molds you make, fire them, and sell them. Develop a way to automate this process.

Working for someone else, you will make someone else very rich. Working for yourself, you will make yourself very rich.

Learning through trial and error is itself an important lesson, because it teaches you how to figure out something which no one can teach you. If you only ever learn from someone showing you how to do it, then you will hit a barrier which you won't pass until you figure out how to figure stuff out.
It's better to learn this learning how to learn lesson on something that is not so dangerous. I suggested 3D printers, ceramics, etc. because those are easy to work with and relatively inexpensive. It will not do to learn the hard way when it involves expensive materials that are much more difficult to work with.

Metal has a grain just as wood has a grain. You might never need to know that unless you will be milling some very precise metal parts.

Of course you might not make a profit your first 3 years or so, but you will definitely get plenty of experience, and you certainly can put your experience in you own business down as experience on your resume.

Other than the above, you might do a search for "robotics intern" as I found a listing of many opportunities here: http://www.simplyhired.com/a/jobs/list/q-robotics+intern

In the video game industry, what does an environment designer & character designer do in order?

3d scanning video games

3d scanning video games image
Q. Do they draw an environment & characters first? And then scan it to a computer & then make the video game using a software or what? Lol

Answer
Most concepts start out as drawings and paintings than could be done in traditional media or on the computer. The concept art then goes to various departments to be interpreted and refined as a digital product. Usually a 3d modeler will create a character or environment in the computer using the concept art as a reference.

A character might be sculpted first in clay, and then digitally scanned to create a 3d model.

The 3d model then goes to a rigger who creates the animatable "skeleton" and controls inside the character. This is what the animator uses to move the character.

How do i get started in Archaeology?

Tim

I am a 22 year old male who, for the last 4 years, has been studying for a creative media degree...specifically video game design. Everything was fine until last year when i failed a class. Now i have failed 3 classes and the only thing i can figure out is that this major is obviously not working out and that I am not cut out for it. Unfortunately i didn't really have a back-up plan, in truth, the thought that i wouldn't want this degree never crossed my mind until recently.

So now i wish to change my career path. Obviously my first priority is simply to graduate. But looking ahead to what i wanna do with my life is also important. In thinking about what i want to do i remembered my love of history. I've always taken an interest in ancient cultures/civilizations, the subject fascinates me. I realize this is a bit presumptuous of me, but i'd like to know how i could possibly get my foot in the door for something like the field of archaeology given the situation I've put myself in.

i'd appreciate if people were kind as i realize it might be asking a lot considering the hole I've put myself in.
any suggestions/comments will be much appreciated.

Answer
trust me, don't do it. you'll work long days in shitty conditions with shitty pay. the only reward is finding something. to at least get some sort of good pay you need to get a phD and that's about 6-8 years of studying. but, you don't become an archaeologist because of the money and your skills in video game design would be quite in demand these days with all the 3D scanning technology. i would suggest you finish your degree and then offer your specialist skills to projects that need someone to create reconstructions for the public and the archaeologists alike. that way you can fuse the two interests and if you're still interested in becoming an archaeologist, you can ask your newly made connections archaeology if they could offer you an excavators job. just to remind you, there aren't that many archaeology jobs around and you'd probably have to pay quite a lot to graduate as one. even to go on a placement will quite likely cost you money, but you need the experience to get a job.

Jimmy

I want to make animated cartoons, but am not sure what software I need. What software is best to draw the characters and backgrounds? Once I draw the characters do I then put them into Adobe Flash to make a cartoon?

Answer
You can use any of these FREE Cartoon Animation Softwares.........

Pencil : http://www.pencil-animation.org/
Pencil is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source.

Synfig Animation Studio : http://synfig.org/
Synfig is a powerful, industrial-strength vector-based open-source 2D animation software package, designed from the ground-up for producing feature-film quality animation with fewer people and resources.2D Animation has traditionally been very expensive because every frame must be drawn by hand. Even with today´s digital inking and painting software, the process still relies on individuals hand-drawing each frame. This laborious task is called "tweening".Synfig eliminates the task of manual tweening, producing smooth, fluid motion without the animator having to draw out each frame individually. This allows you to produce 2D animation with fewer people while producing art of a higher quality.

Tapptoons Linetester : http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/tapptoons/index.htm
The Tapptoons Linetester enables animators to use a scanner or video camera (with compatible capture card) to input animation images into a standard PC and edit their work, adding soundtrack and color if they wish and to output the result as a Windows AVI. Can be used for puppet animation as well as drawn animation.

eDrawings : http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/
eDrawings is a freeware utility which will give the user the power to view, create and share 3D models and 2D drawings. eDrawings offers unique capabilities like point-and-click animations that make it easy for anyone with a PC to interpret and understand 2D and 3D design data.

Could you see this machine within the next 75 years?

3d scanner turntable
on threeRivers 3D - Custom and Standard 3D Scanners
3d scanner turntable image

Qelery

A "Home Diagnosis Machine" that looks like a mini MRI machine in your home that you will use daily. First the machine takes a drop of your blood and saliva as a sample. Then you lay on the machine as it brings into the tube, just like an MRI machine. It scans you body for about 5 minutes, taking 3D images of your body and examining the blood. It would be able to tell you everything from your blood pressure, to cancerous tumors, to what vitamins you lack. Your results will be dispalyed on a touch screen. Everything that needs your attention will be shown to you. It will diagnose you and display what medication, vitamins, or medical attention you need. You select the medication you need to buy and the machine will send it to your local pharmacy.

Answer
Sure, why not? Except that it will probably not look like a MRI machine at all and won't need 75 years to come to market. Like almost any product, this hypothetical device would have to be user friendly as well as have user appeal. That means no big, bulky machines in the house/apartment. I would envision it as more of a solid state scanner that could be placed on the wall, ceiling, shower, door frame or even in your bed frame (basically anything you walk past). Depending on how many points of origin the scanner(s) has (or perhaps it uses some kind of depth sensitive radiation) it can then scan you in three dimensions while you are stationary. There are already consumer available 3D scanners that place objects on turntables and produce a 3D image. So there's the technological component.
I can also see such a device coming to homes due to society's increasing paranoia and obsession with personal health and hygiene (I think this borders on mass psychosis). Basically anything that promises to be of some benefit to personal health will be easily accepted by consumers even if there are other potential drawbacks.
Factors against the invention of such a device would likely have to be economic or political in nature since social acceptance and technology are already in place. Also, a newer and better method might also be discovered in that time.

Basic DJ Lighting Control?

Q. I've been entertaining the idea of mixing external lighting with the video editing / 3D I'm into for a while now. What would be the base price for such equipment to control stage lights / strobes from a computer, and where can it be bought? I've done a bit of research into it myself [DMX specifically], and would be interested in a one or two light system; nothing fancy. Note that I have no interest any other DJ equipment such as turntables and all that, just a basic lighting setup. How would such a system connect to a computer? Though I've seen some of the lights and standalone controllers, I haven't seen much about connections to a computer and controlling software.

Answer
Computer connection and control of DMX is quite expensive.

If you would like to just get started I suggest a package deal of 2 scanners and a controller.
