Answer
I totally agree with you! I loved inception, source code, and limitless. It seems to me you like movies that have Alot of action and have mind bobbling endings. :) great choice of movies, you should be a film critic

Im a highschooler who wants to persure a career in 2D animation. I need advice from a 2D Animator!?

Q. First, Id like to inform you a little about myself.

I've been drawing for a while now and I think I've developed some pretty good drawing skills considering Im only 16. My line of work is just sketches and more sketches of people and anatomical figures. I get creative with my drawings and a lot of my 'finished work' goes along the lines of illustration that I do on the computer with my tablet.

Im awful at traditional painting, but Im quite confident in my drawing skills when it comes to drawing from life. Especially the human figure! But I work with the human figure blind more often than I do from life. I look to Jack Hamm's 'Drawing The Head and Figure' as well as Andy Smith's "Drawing Dynamic Comics."(Which teaches about drawing superhero comic figures) I try to mesh the two so that I can one day animate my own figures similar to those of the more realistic comicbooks you see on the shelves. I've also grown up looking at movies in the analytical aspect, scrutinizing pieces of the film to appreciate scenes and the storyboard that go into the film. My influences to persue in animation were DEFINATELY Batman the Animated Series and cartoon network itself! That as well as a few anime with either a very moving narrative or astounding animation qaulity. (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Ghost In The Shell..) And even a few disney favorites... Oliver in Company, Aristo Cats, Balto, Lion King.

Here are examples of a few edited works from my sketchbook.

http://i42.tinypic.com/axi80m.png
http://i40.tinypic.com/5b2tlv.jpg (this one is a quick, maybe 15 to 20 minute drawing of my little brother laying down on the couch)

My drawings niches right now dont fit what I'd like to be able to do in the future, (Im having difficulties in drawing guys! Especially their muscles!) but Im working hard to up my skills before its time to send applications into college. (Im in the 11th grade) Im very informed on portfolio requirements and what schools would like to see because Im in my highschool's 'Senior Portfolio Class' which is a class to prepare Senior's portfolios for college. Im an advanced art student, as well as 2 other Juniors, and we're in it togethor. My grades, Ill have you know, are awful. I go to summer school once every year because I always end up failing one of my classes and I have to make up the credit so I can graduate. And the class that did that to me last year was french, which I couldnt take over the summer because they dont offer it at my highschool. So Im screwed when it comes to impressing a college with my '3 years of a language' thing. Im REALLY depending on art school at this point! I know I should not have done that because it shows a horrible work ethic, but drawing is the only thing I like to do! (besides play videogames, haha)

I want to become an animator! (I've got a lightbox, a scanner and my trusty tablet) And I aspire to continue a career into 2D! I've looked into A LOT of schools and I cant find a school with a truly impressive curriculum in 2D animation. (I know its actually just animation where they teach you both 3D and 2D, but I couldnt find a good batch of classes for 2D in each of the programs of study for the colleges I was looking into.) BUT...

I did find SCAD. Savannah College of Art and Design. (http://www.scad.edu) And their student work is very nice, I didnt see much 2D, but when I looked at their classes, it was a pretty nice list for 2D! I understand now that SCAD is supposedly a very impressive school, and I'd really like to get in!

But my questions are... Do I have any other options? Is my work or my plans right now only going to hurt me? I dont know about what its like getting a job as a 2D animator or what an average day is for somebody working as one. Or even what the chances are for me to work for a company that'll give me decent pay to live on and pay future debt! I need some intel on somebody who works as a 2D animator. Im ready for a long road ahead of me until I really have the skills and experience needed to be a truly magnificent animator, but I want to make sure that when I train for it in college that I'll find work to get myself out there. I understand I wont be a big time animator or something straight out of college, but I want to know places or companies to work that I can do what I love and get more experience. Whats a good company or place to start out with? I dont even know if I have the right mindset right now! I feel blind! I know nothing about the animation career other than little things on how to actually animate.

Last but not least, whats your story on how you became a 2D animator?

If you read this, thankyou so so much. Im positive that I and many other students out there have these same questions too. I read online that pay for 2D animation is looked at as a bad living, but it honestly de
Im sorry this is so long. If you know a different place where I can contact 2D animators, drop me a line!

Answer
Hey, first off your work is great. The last two are kind of boring, but the first couple ones are really impressive. SCAD is a great school, if I were you I would go there. I went to school where they had an animation program where you learned both 2d and 3d. I do know that if you can find a 2d animation job the pay won't be that great. New York is a good place to be for 2d animators, I recently worked with a girl on a show called Fat Guy Stuck in Internet who went on to animate for Super Jail, a 2d show on Adult Swim. All in All you really need to go to art school, it builds a lot of drawing skill in many different ways. Good Luck.

What can I use to cast a mold from stone without hurting the stone?

disciple

I'm new to this, but does anyone know what medium I would use to make a mold from a stone. In other words, There is an old building with a beautiful design sculpted in to it. I want to copy this design. I know there is a material out there that I can press against the original design and make a mold of it and then cast the design in plaster. I just don't know what material I would use to do this without hurting the stone.... Help!!!

Answer
I think the sculpey or any clay will work. If you use normal clay, any residue left will dissolve in the next rain, just don't use brown clay on light stone... if you use water based clay you would have to cast your plaster into the mold while the clay is still wet.
As the clay won't be very stable just on its own, you should consider making a mother mold on top of that. That is a hard shell, which just gives support to the soft part of your mold so it doesn't deform. It depends on the size of what you want to copy if you need it. You could make the mothermold from plaster bandages, but don't put plaster directly on the stone.
Before you start, consider carefully the shape of what you want to copy and where undercuts are and where you have to put in parting lines. What technique you use for mold making really depends on the exact shape of what you want to copy. If the structure is something complicated, you may want to practice how to make molds from more simple structures first so you are aware what causes problems and get some experience in how to solve them.

Another completely contact free method is if you happen to be at a university where they have a 3D laser scanning camera you can borrow, you could use the 3D laser scanner then make a model of your structure in the computer from the scans. That you could print out using a 3D printer. that way you can scale the model to any size (though anything large will be expensive to print)

tell me the difference :)?

Between normal X-ray technology and Computed Tomography used in hospital , especially about Computer Function of CT
thanks

Small suggestion :)
Are you having blog , could you invite me as your friend :)

Answer
Standard x-rays are simple images similar to photographs taken in the X-ray spectrum of light.

Computed tomography (CT), originally known as computed axial tomography (CAT or CT scan) and body section roentgenography, is a medical imaging method employing tomography where digital geometry processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the internals of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation. The word "tomography" is derived from the Greek tomos (slice) and graphia (to write). CT produces a volume of data which can be manipulated, through a process known as windowing, in order to demonstrate various structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam. Although historically the images generated were in the axial or transverse plane (orthogonal to the long axis of the body), modern scanners allow this volume of data to be reformatted in various planes or even as volumetric (3D) representations of structures.

Although most common in healthcare, CT is also used in other fields, for example nondestructive materials testing.

Advantages Over Projection Radiography

First, CT completely eliminates the superimposition of images of structures outside the area of interest. Second, because of the inherent high-contrast resolution of CT, differences between tissues that differ in physical density by less than 1% can be distinguished. Third, data from a single CT imaging procedure consisting of either multiple contiguous or one helical scan can be viewed as images in the axial, coronal, or sagittal planes, depending on the diagnostic task. This is referred to as multiplanar reformatted imaging.

Regarding your question about the computing portion, X-ray slice data is generated using an X-ray source that rotates around the object; X-ray sensors are positioned on the opposite side of the circle from the X-ray source. Many data scans are progressively taken as the object is gradually passed through the gantry. They are combined together by the mathematical procedure known as tomographic reconstruction.

Newer machines with faster computer systems and newer software strategies can process not only individual cross sections but continuously changing cross sections as the gantry, with the object to be imaged, is slowly and smoothly slid through the X-ray circle. These are called helical or spiral CT machines. Their computer systems integrate the data of the moving individual slices to generate three dimensional volumetric information (3D-CT scan), in turn viewable from multiple different perspectives on attached CT workstation monitors.

In conventional CT machines, an X-ray tube and detector are physically rotated behind a circular shroud (see the image above right); in the electron beam tomography (EBT) the tube is far larger and higher power to support the high temporal resolution. The electron beam is deflected in a hollow funnel shaped vacuum chamber. X-rays are generated when the beam hits the stationary target. The detector is also stationary.

The data stream representing the varying radiographic intensity sensed reaching the detectors on the opposite side of the circle during each sweep is then computer processed to calculate cross-sectional estimations of the radiographic density, expressed in Hounsfield units. Sweeps cover 360 or just over 180 degrees in conventional machines, 220 degrees in EBT.

CT is used in medicine as a diagnostic tool and as a guide for interventional procedures. Sometimes contrast materials such as intravenous iodinated contrast are used. This is useful to highlight structures such as blood vessels that otherwise would be difficult to delineate from their surroundings. Using contrast material can also help to obtain functional information about tissues.

Pixels in an image obtained by CT scanning are displayed in terms of relative radiodensity. The pixel itself is displayed according to the mean attenuation of the tissue(s) that it corresponds to on a scale from -1024 to +3071 on the Hounsfield scale. Pixel is a two dimensional unit based on the matrix size and the field of view. When the CT slice thickness is also factored in, the unit is known as a Voxel, which is a three dimensional unit. The phenomenon that one part of the detector cannot differ between different tissues is called the Partial Volume Effect. That means that a big amount of cartilage and a thin layer of compact bone can cause the same attenuation in a voxel as hyperdense cartilage alone. Water has an attenuation of 0 Hounsfield units (HU) while air is -1000 HU, cancellous bone is typically +400 HU, cranial bone can reach 2000 HU or more (os temporale) and can cause artefacts. The attenuation of metallic implants depends on atomic number of the element used: Titanium usually has an amount of +1000 HU, iron steel can completely extinguish the X-ray and is therefore responsible for well-known line-artifacts in computed tomogrammes.

Why dont airports use dogs instead of those 3d body scanners?

BillsGold

Dogs could detect everything those scanners do and more. Why not make them standard at every airport gate? My own theory is that you cant make a lot of money from dogs so there's no lobbyists advocating for dogs. You can make money off of those scanners ($150,000 a machine?). Is our security being subverted by washington lobbyists?

Answer
If each team had several dogs all trained in detecting different substances, the handlers could simply walk the dogs along the line of waiting passengers and remove anyone the dogs "hit" on. Forget technology, let nature expose them. I agree. Dogs not scanners.

hi! we had an ultrasound a couple weeks ago...and the technician said she thought it looked like a boy,...but ive always thought this baby was a girl...and it kinda looks like a girl to me.
i would post up my ultrasound pict, but my scanner is being stupid!
help! anyone!

Answer
You should try the 3d Scan, They will tell you that it's a boy or girl.
My wife always was on the impression that it was a girl but we found out that it was a boy.
I wished i can exchange with you the scan. I will try it.

Embarrassing question about tablets?

SCP

Okay, so I'm a retired person. I use my laptop for email, internet, banking, buying stuff, etc. - pretty basic. I have wireless access in my home. I know NOTHING of how a tablet works. I want to buy a tablet for a friend who's quite broke. I doubt if she has the income to afford the monthly access for connection to a computer. I know you can use the internet on smartphones. Can you use a tablet without having internet access? I know I sound like an idiot - I'm even embarrassed to go to Best Buy and ask in person. Any info would be appreciated.

Answer
There is nothing to be embarrassed about..

I have the 4 main tablet group or from the main 4 operating system OS:
an amazon kindle, an iPad from apple, a Samsung tablet that runs on Android OS and a Windows 8.1 Acer iconia tablet..

For your friend, I would recommend the Apple iPad as the first choice, an Android device as a second choice (cheaper price), tablet PC if you (or your friend) want a regular computer with regular functions (but it is also the most expensive) and Amazon Kindle as the last choice..

And they all do not have to be connected to the internet in order for them to work..
But you need the internet connection to gain access to the 'App store', should you wish to install new apps (software) or get the latest updates..
And of course, you'd need the internet access if you try to access internet-based app like internet browser, the Facebook app or the Youtube app..

Also many of those free apps (freeware) that you download from the app store require internet connection in order for them to work (because the freeware is paid by you watching their ads), which is something that is more common in Android apps than others..
Many of those free apps (games mostly) are rendered useless without internet connection..

My number one tablet is still the windows 8.1 tablet PC..
I love it because it runs my windows tablet just like my desktop computer..
Unfortunately, windows tablets require a lot of patience and a lot of know how.. things that my mom lack and make her frustrated with computers.. and they are the most pricy among all tablets I have (it ranges between 500 to 1200 US dollars depending on the make and the model of the tablet PC)

I can ran those familiar software to me like PowerPoint and Microsoft Word, even CorelDraw and PhotoShop from my Acer tablet..
but it doesn't have to be Acer, the choice of the tablet make (or brand) depends on the availability and the support nearby (around my house, I can see Toshiba and Acer repair shop almost everywhere)..

IPad comes second, the iPad has more collection of mature apps (not baby apps seen in kindle and most android apps) that really stands out..
in particular the iMovie and movie effects, like 'action movie'..

It is actually my mom's favorite.. she loves that thing and she's on it all the time..

IPad belong to a group of devices called iOS devices, like iPod, iphone and iPad.. and the iPad has many models according to how old is it: iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3 (but has the official name 'the iPad'), and iPad mini.. .. .. and I believe that the latest tablet is called 'iPad Air'..
iOS devices have far more accessories than Android devices.. and I am not talking about bags, chargers or protective covers only..
I am talking about, remote controlled helicopters, remote control cars and robotic arms, 3D scanners, Stereo systems etc..

IPad, iPhones and iOS devices are generally associated with quality and slightly higher cost.. but still i prefer them over the Android devices at any given day..

Android devices biggest advantage is the price, they are cheaper than iPad.. and many apps (software) in the Android app store are free..
The leading android tablets are from Samsung's Galaxy class.. and you can go as cheap as 40 US dollars tablets from Huawei and other cheap Chinese tablets (but I highly do not recommend you to buy any of those cheap stuff, and aim for Samsung products)..

iOS and Androids share a number of similar apps (not all).. i.e. you can get some of those apps in iPad's (Apple app store), but they are usually free on Android app store which is always popular with kids (sometimes the catch is to see ads and links to buy things whenever you play those games)..

My mom uses Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that uses Android OS, and she hates it very much..
she hates of having too much controls in the menu, and how the buttons jump from one area of the screen to another (when she presses OK and confirm her choice).. but most of all, she feels cheated when she gets too much ads on her free apps, and some of those apps stop working when you are away from WiFi..

Amazon Kindle (I believe that I have the old 5th generation), is in a class on its own..it is the cheapest and the easiest tablet to own and have.. but it is mainly meant for reading books and magazines..
But you really can not do much of it..
Frankly I bought that thing because I thought that I would pick up the hobby of book reading, you know expanding myself.. but I really do not know what to do with it, except it is a fancy paper weight..

to recap.. I would recommend an iPad generally, Android tablets are generally cheaper, tablet PC are most expensive but has more familiar computer function, and finally the Kindle is not a big thing, yet..
all the best..

My computer keeps freezing?

sirhouse

My computer freezes a lot to the point where its become "useless". I'll list the history of what happened to it and if anyone has a fix to it I'm literally going to explode out of happiness.

I got my first blue screen playing a 3D game called minecraft, all I had to do was restart my computer and it worked again. This kept happening but not to the point where it was annoying, it rarely happened.

But I kept playing games and it got to the point where I would get a blue screen after a few minutes every time I played any game or video.

I asked a question on here a while ago and I got some help that told me it was the graphics card/driver. I uninstalled the graphics driver and reinstalled it, but the problems continued.

I thought it had to be an overheating problem so I removed the back case of my laptop. But in fact this made it much worse and I thought it was because now my RAM sticks weren't seated securely and they were moving around causing it to crash much more commonly. So I took one out I couldn't find the other one but this didn't change anything at all except now it crashes even when I'm not doing anything video related like surfing the web.

Anyways thats where I'm at now. I think its a problem with the hardware because it kept getting worse over time, but I don't know what parts not working. Thanks for ANY advice/pointers!

Answer
What Operating System your using?

Suggest running the Memory Diagnostics Tool from Microsoft:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-nz/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

If one or more memory sticks is corrupted at a point, then your find that your computer will randomly crash (when it has reached and tries to use that address). So, this could happen at any time - boot time, during any application/game, etc. If this is your issue, then carefully remove all memory sticks (after removing static from your body by grounding yourself - for example: touching a piece of metal area on the computer) except for one and retest each individually... place back any good ones and replace the damaged one(s).

Next scan your computer hard drive(s) for errors, go under "My Computer" -> Right click on each Local Disk (one at a time) -> Properties -> Tools (tab) -> Erroring Checking -> Check Now. Select automatically fix file system errors and also check for bad sectors option. If the drive is in use, it might ask to check on next boot up instead (say okay and restart).

Next scan your computer for viruses, spyware and trojans. If you already have an virus scanner, then ensure it is up-to-date as well as Windows, a good firewall and other applications you use regularly. Most virus scanner are utter rubbish, I recommend total application control rather than virus definition only scanners. This means something which gives or denies each application/game access to various areas of your system (including itself) with a strong firewall to prevent any network access, such as Kaspersky Internet Security.

You can check with some free tools, such as: http://www.kaspersky.com/virus-scanner

Also, check for spyware using a free manual running application (which doesn't conflict with your virus scanner) such as Lava Soft Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php or Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/dl/

Next clean out any startup background applications and/or services you don't need. This is more advance, only remove what you know is and don't want. You can use Start -> Run -> type "MsConfig.exe" and press enter, then look under the Startup tab, also more carefully under the Services tab (Leave it alone or Google search the name of each if unsure what it is/does).

What is the difference between a traditional CT Scanner and a Spiral CT Scanner?

marshyanke

I know that a spiral produces thinner slices and perhaps in more detail, I am not really sure? I would like to better understand the science behind it? Also, could you respond with some understanding of MRI and Doppler scans as well? Could you provide some of the history of the above mentioned diagnostic tests? Thank you.

Answer
Computed tomography (CT), originally known as computed axial tomography (CAT or CT scan) and body section roentgenography, is a medical imaging method employing tomography where digital geometry processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the internals of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation. The word "tomography" is derived from the Greek tomos (slice) and graphia (to write). CT produces a volume of data which can be manipulated, through a process known as windowing, in order to demonstrate various structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam. Although historically (see below) the images generated were in the axial or transverse plane (orthogonal to the long axis of the body), modern scanners allow this volume of data to be reformatted in various planes or even as volumetric (3D) representations of structures.

Spiral CT scanning is just a new and advanced from of CT scanning: This is a newer type of CT scan, also known as a 'helical' CT scan. It is faster than a standard CT scan and gives an even more detailed picture of your organs and tissues, including blood vessels. This can make it useful for picking up very small tumours. It's called a spiral scan because the X-ray beam rotates around you during the scan in a spiral shape. This gives the radiographers a continuous picture, with no possible gaps between the 'slices' of the scan.

steps to become a radiology technician?

Jessie Mon

I am currently a freshman at a state university. I am planning to earn B.S in Radiology science and become a radiology technician (not a radiologist), but I have no clue where to start. What do I have to do? how many years will it take ? (only 4-5 or more ? ) Please help me out. Thank you.
I wants to earn a BS in radiology and Masters in Health Administration

Answer
Radiologist technicians are health care professionals who specialize in using medical imaging to diagnose patients, evaluate injuries, and recommend treatment options. In order to become a radiologist technician, you will need to have earned a degree from an accredited college or university with a health care concentration. Additional on the job training is also required. When researching radiologist technician schools, look for programs that specialize in radiology and offer hands-on practice with cutting edge medical technology. Widely used technologies that students will need to become experienced with include X-rays, CT scanners, MRIs, 3D medical imaging programs, special cameras used in health care and surgery, sonogram machines, and plenty of other computer and web-based software programs.

Other important factors to consider when researching radiologist technician schools include the amount of funding and time spent on radiology research at the school and the size of the radiology department and team at the medical school hospital or clinic. If your medical school is a leader in radiology research and the expansion of medical imaging technology, then the quality of the academic and training programs will be high due to substantial funding and the on-campus presence of leaders in radiology. Medical centers that are known for excellence in radiology will also mean that your school program will benefit from the influence and teachings of experienced, cutting edge radiologists.

Can you recommend a guide and software for making 3D objects?

Tomas

My idea is to take photos of bones (scapula, femur...) from different angles, run them through a software which will somehow combine them and make a 3D object in space, that i can rotate and add annotation (tags?, description for different parts of bone)

I am not a programmer and i need something easy.

Do you have any ideas? :)

Answer
photos are 2d. you can get depth, but not 3d. you need a 3d scanner like a next engine 3d scanner they run $3000. the web site is pretty cool, it will show you how to scan and print. the printer in the web site is is a year old and now they have much better printers with more options on materials available.
for software you will need a program like Solidworks. it is #1 right now for 3d. it is what Pixiar animation use and many large companies. there are other programs, but after my research for myself most will not talk to the scanner. down side is cost and you need a pretty big system to run it.
then if you want you can send it to a 3d printer for a few dollars you will get a actual 3d sculpture. there are several 3d printers, but after looking at many the 'shapesways gallery' they can print in plastics, metal, ceramics.
this stuff is super cool. this should lead you in the right direction. these printers have only been available for public about a year, but they have been around since the 80s.

Can someone use this idea for cameras ? Please pass along and maybe it will evolve into something worthwhile !?

Mr. J

Dear Reader,

I offer these ideas for your consideration. First a few comments.
In the 1980âs a type of computer program, known as an expert system, was developed to diagnose Meningitis after reviewing the symptoms of possible candidate patients. It was more effective than the doctors it was tested against ! It is, I think, reasonable to assume that many other such programs could and should be developed and made widely available to the public. This would go a long way in reducing health care cost and move us forward technologically speaking, as a species. Now to, how this relates to camera improvements.

First: It is a fact that many human diseases reveal themselves in human fingernails, toenails, and in the eye. I am suggesting that a digital camera, loaded with a well written program, probably a combination of expert system and neural network could be used to diagnose potential disease conditions. Simply, place your hand or other such appendage on a controlled surface, take a picture and analyze same. I am aware that this concept is very general but I offer it to you with the hope that you will give it fair consideration.
If successful this could open up exciting new markets for camera makers.

Second: I would like to see a camera that has a program that will determine the area of surface by simple taking a picture of it. I think this should be fairly straight forward if you were to use Pickâs formula for determining area.

Third: I would like to see a digital camera add a long exposure feature to itsâ list of features. Once again I think this should be doable by creating a program that tells the camera to take pictures at intervals and âoverlaysâ each picture, thereby capturing more light for each picture pixel. Of course, a motorized tripod could be used to capture astronomical footage. This technique should increase still picture quality by orders of magnitude !

Lastly: The Intel corporation recently announced an optical device that will be available soon that will be fast enough, I have read, to download a high definition movie in on second ! This will of course make USB obsolete. It would seem that one could use this tool to connect a camera to other devices such as a microscope, telescope, or any other âopticalâ reader and get excellent video and extreme data analysis. I hope to soon see this available to the general public.

I have posted these thoughts on the web. I hope these memes evolve and inspire others to create.

Thank you,

Mr. J
Thanks for your input Joe.

On item 1, please realize that many corporations have a vested interest NOT to create such a program, whereas, camera makers are in need of ideas that will allow them to compete with ever better cell phone cameras.

On item 2, The area idea was meant to be a quick fix to problems like , finding the area of a wall you might want to wall paper or paint. It would only be used for "good enough approximations.

On item 3, I was thinking more about the possibility of using the camera via long exposure to act as a substitute telescope. Each image captured would bring new light to the lens. A program would add this photon info, by laying each image on TOP of the prior image. The internal program could keep track of new information being picked up thereby allowing a simple camera to view deep sky objects, and vivid still photos.

If no one else has input I will give you the best answer. I just wanted to post these ideas somewhere, in the hopes that by creating a mem

Answer
1 - interesting idea - however i think it would make more sense to create some computer software and then tether it to an off the shelf camera - reducing costs over all.

2 - To determine the surface area, you would have to have a 3d model of surface, because otherwise it would not be able to take into consideration and bumps or groves, as these would just appear as a flat surface. i believe that there are laser scanners that can already do this. I think they use them to scan in the 3d sculptures that are created to create animations such as the ones produced by pixar.

3 - There is a product that does it, and infact you can do it yourself, if you take hundred of pictured of a scene from the same point, load them into photoshop, and merge them, it will create a huge image that is all of yours stitched together to make one. Google Gigapixel photo.

4 - Light Peak - the technology you are referring to most probably will make usb obsolete. Telescopes are already available with mounts that allow you to place an SLR on the back, and use it as a huge lens. And video microscopes are available, with electron microscopes being able to produce very detailed and highly magnified images. The data transfer speed is not the issue here, rather the resolution of the cameras.

Anyway, some interesting ideas.

Joe

Can i play WOW on dell studio 15?

loic hamil

Right now dell has a pretty good coupon for this laptop so if i do buy it it has to be by april 30. The problem with waiting and seeing if something else comes out is that i need a laptop this summer for some summer courses and my desktop is on its death bed right now. I can get a way cheaper laptop but i am willing to pay the extra hundreds just to play wow.

So how well will this laptop work with wrath of the lich king? i know the graphics card is crap but its the best that they will do...

Answer
WoW will run on your system just fine, as the system requirements state the following:
* Windows Vista or Windows XP
* Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP 1500+ 1300 MHz
* 512 MB or more of RAM (1 GB for Vista Users)
* 32 MB 3D video card with Hardware T&L or better
* 15 GB free HD space
* 4Ã CD-ROM drive
* Broadband Internet connection
so, since your machine is a 2.4 Ghz dual core with 4GBs of main memory, and a 250GB hard drive, it will run pretty well, thought the graphics card may limit the game somewhat
